Timeshare options

What Options Can a Timeshare Owner Explore?

There is no single answer for every owner. The right starting point depends on the contract, resort, payment status, market demand and reason for wanting a change.

  1. Option 1

Keep and use the ownership differently

Before exiting, some owners review exchange options, different booking dates, owner benefits or ways to make better use of what they already own. Ask the resort to explain all current benefits and fees in writing.

  2. Option 2

Ask about a resort surrender or deed-back

Some resorts have programs that may accept an ownership back. Rules vary. The resort may require the account to be current, charge a fee or limit which owners qualify. Contact the resort directly and verify every requirement.

  3. Option 3

    Sell or transfer the timeshare

Some ownerships can be sold or transferred, but many have little resale demand. Research recent comparable listings and avoid paying large upfront fees based only on a promise of a buyer.

  4. Option 4

    Request a professional review

When the resort does not offer a workable path, an independent professional may review the documents and circumstances. Ask who will perform the work, what is included, what is not included, the total cost and the cancellation policy before signing.

  5. Option 5

    Speak with a licensed attorney

If you believe there was fraud, misrepresentation or another legal issue, consider speaking directly with a licensed attorney in the correct state. OwnerRelease cannot tell you whether you have a legal claim.
